I like it when a flower or a little tuft of grass grows through a crack in the concrete. It’s so fuckin’ heroic. »George Carlin

Whatever I do, however I find a way to live, I will tell these stories…. I speak to these people, and I speak to you because I cannot help it. It gives me strength, almost unbelievable strength, to know that you are there. I covet your eyes, your ears, the collapsible space between us. How blessed are we to have each other? I am alive and you are alive so we must fill the air with our words. I will fill today, tomorrow, every day until I am taken back to God. I will tell stories to people who will listen and to people who don’t want to listen, to people who seek me out and to those who run. All the while I will know that you are there. How can I pretend that you do not exist? It would be almost as impossible as you pretending that I do not exist. »

An excerpt from What is the What by Dave Eggers.  This is the last paragraph of the book - what an amazing last paragraph!!!  I would recommend this novelized biography of Valentino Achak Deng as much as anything I’ve read in recent memory. (via richiemillennium)

Wow, I have that sitting on my shelf and you have inspired me to actually read it :)

I converted to Palahniuk-ism a few years ago.
My dad constantly mocks me for that and says “his favorite author after the ones who wrote the bible”.
Yes, also I stopped going to church around the same time I turned to Palahniuk-ism…but one has absolutely nothing at fucking all to do with the other.

I’m also a Palahniuk addict. My favorite quote of his: “A good story should make you laugh, and a moment later break your heart.”

Every hitRECorder with a tumblr is now blogging about v4 :)

I think we’ve made 11:11 ours.

I shouldn’t have, but I’ve been anticipating V4 for about 2 days now because of the time difference. Damn you, CHINA TIME!
